What to Expect

  • Some. It is best to have the basic operational skills down to get the most out of your training experience.

  • All riders must show proof of a motorcycle endorsement in order to participate in any CLEAR Moto training.

  • Yes. CLEAR Moto does not provide rentals.

  • This training is designed for big adventure motorcycles, however, anything works. From a 250cc dual spot to a 1300cc adventure motorcycle.

We do recommend a street-legal motorcycle with lights and a license plate for any pavement stretches we may need to ride.

  • Both levels will focus on strengthening fundamental skills. Fundamental skills can always increase in difficulty and should never become “easy.”

Novice is great for any rider that wants a slower pace while they learn fundamental skills. This is a great option for new adventure riders.

Intermediate is best for riders that have learned the fundamentals and want a little more structure and challenge. This is a great option for a rider that is already riding off-road.

  • During the Duty Lizard, CLEAR Moto offers Trail Training, which takes training directly to the trail instead of a field.

    • Fundamental Riding Skills

    • Terrain Considerations

  • Yes. The Dusty Lizard has full event and day pass options.

  • All riders must wear a properly fitted DOT approved motorcycle helmet and eye protection while operating a motorcycle during training.

We recommend riders wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy over-the-ankle boots, and full-finger gloves.

If you have questions about gear please see our Blog for more info.

  • Yes. Your coach will be on a large adventure motorcycle as well.

You are welcome to ride a smaller motorcycle as well. This course is about learning how to respond to trail conditions. We’ll be taking it one step at a time, stopping often to discuss trail elements and what technique(s) to use.

  • Lunch is informal. We will likely end training where we can eat together as a group.

It’s not a bad idea to bring along a sack lunch and snacks in case we eat on the trail.

Please bring plenty of water. We recommend more than a bottle. We are partial to hydration packs, but you carry what you’re comfortable with.

  • Training will take place in most weather conditions. If the conditions make operating the motorcycle unsafe, training will be cancelled or rescheduled. For a more in-depth list of weather conditions that would cancel training please see the CLEAR Moto Policy page.

If you choose not to join training due to weather, there is no refund. Check with us about rescheduling.

  • Payment is either paid in full or as a 50% deposit of the total costs at time of booking. If there is a balance, the remainder is due no later than the time of service.

  • You can cancel for a full refund if done so with no less than two weeks notice.

Receive a 50% refund (if paid in full) if you cancel with less than two weeks notice. If only 50% was paid at time of booking, receive no refund.

If training is cancelled with less than a week’s notice, receive a credit of your total payments good toward future training. The credit is based on its monetary value only.

“No shows/no calls” will not receive a refund or credit.

For more details about cancellations please see the CLEAR Moto Policy page.

  • CLEAR Moto believes in respecting all people and that includes their pronouns.

If you don’t want to state your pronoun, you do not have to. We respect that just as much.

  • It is certainly appreciated. If you feel that your coach did a wonderful job they would be grateful for any tip.

  • Yes. We will be stopping frequently to discuss trail conditions. We’ll also stop and get out of our helmets and stretch our legs too.

  • We’ll scout trails ahead of time, though we ask for your understanding that this is adventure riding. Conditions can and do change.

The pace of the ride is based on you and the group of riders you’re with. This means we may be ahead or behind schedule. We do our best to keep to a start and finish time to the best of our ability.
